Australia counts 21 Courses and 342 students in 2008

For Kairos Australia, the year 2008 meant 342 students in 21 Kairos courses in three states.

Two of the latest courses were held in at the Grace Community Baptist Church in New South Wales (NSW) and at the Sydney Hills Youth with a Mission (YWAM) base. Seventeen people from four different churches joined the Kairos NSW course while another 17 participants joined the Sydney Hills YWAM course.

The course at Grace Community was nearly cancelled but God brought along the participants who are strategic in taking the course elsewhere. One participant, a university student, wants to take the course to his university in country NSW. One couple is planning to be involved in cross-cultural ministry while another participant said that God has been prompting him about overseas mission. According to him, the course has opened his eyes to the Biblical aspect of mission.

Participants at the Sydney Hills YWAM course were predominantly young. Five of the participants were from another Sydney YWAM base (Island Breeze) and had recently finished an outreach to two Asian countries. Nine were from a university Christian group and were doing Kairos in preparation for a four-week mission exposure trip to Kenya and Tanzania. Out of these 17 participants, 10 went on to complete a facilitator’s training. This course may prove to be very strategic as ten countries were represented by the participants and facilitators.
