LSI Philippines Holds 6-day Intensive Course
In September, a live-in 6-day Intensive Kairos Course or CWMC (Condensed World Missions Course) with Facilitator’s Training Course was conducted at
Living Springs International (LSI) in Butuan City, Philippines.
This batch was small, with only six people. But most of those who enrolled, however, held key positions in their denominations and came in order to be better equipped to mobilize their churches into deeper involvement in missions.
Three of the students were mission coordinators for large denominations in the country. During the course, they saw the potential of mobilizing their churches located near LRPs (Least Reached People Groups) in the Philippines for creative frontier mission outreach. There was also much discussion during the growth point groups on how to prepare church members going out as Overseas Contract Workers to become effective cross-cultural witnesses.
One enrollee was the national youth coordinator for his denomination. He learned in the chapter on mission history, how student mission movements in the past provided large numbers of mission personnel. He realized how significant his role could be today in preparing a future generation of Filipino missionaries and Great Commission workers.
Another participant was preparing to go abroad to pastor a Filipino congregation in another Asian country. She realized during the course that she was not just going out to be a blessing to Filipinos working abroad, but that God was also sending her to help equip these Filipinos to be a blessing to the various ethnic groups they encounter in their host country.
Denominations represented in the course had some differences in theological perspectives. They were The Christian and Missionary Alliance, The Free Methodist Church and The Fundamental Baptist Church. The participants, however enjoyed each other’s company and learning from one another. They called their batch the “half-dozen” batch and embraced the truth that they belonged to the one body of Christ with the same mandate to make disciples of all nations.
