Kairos Singapore gathering for leaders and advocates held

A gathering of Kairos leaders and advocates was held recently in Singapore. About 30 people from different groups and denominations joined the event. The groups and denominations represented were: Anglican, Methodist, Lutheran, Evangelical Church, Baptist and Independent churches.

According to Ken, Kairos national coordinator for Singapore, the purpose of the gathering is to challenge everyone to understand that Kairos is not a classroom course. “The Kairos Course is the first step to a World Christian journey for individuals and in the long run, Kairos must give rise to a movement in Singapore to reach the Least Reached Peoples.”

Kairos Singapore would like to see a rising movement that is sustainable in the long run. “We aim to build Kairos teams in denomination and churches that would not only run the Kairos Course but help to create a movement in their respective churches and organizations. We want to see the whole Church getting involved in missions and not just being a sideline donor,” says Ken.

In Singapore the Kairos movement will be focusing on three things: reaching foreigners who have come to Singapore’s shore; raising up tentmakers (Singaporeans who are going overseas to work) and micro-enterprise (helping the church reinvent to reach difficult and at times, violent communities through community transformation).
