Kairos transforms perspectives in Zimbabwe

"The course was fantastic, encouraging and spiritually enriching. I had to hold back tears when I saw the videos where some people have sacrificed and risked their lives for the sake of the Gospel of Jesus Christ…If the Spirit can so lead people in such directions then so be it for me also.”

Such was the impact of the course on Obey, just one of the 20 participants of the Kairos course held in Mutare, Zimbabwe. Another participant, Perseus added: “We have learned things we have never heard or come across before."

The participants had a story to tell as to how Kairos was a tool transforming their way of seeing things. One said that the course helped her to become an intercessor for the Least Reached People Groups; another added that the course is a “tremendous equipping tool” for missionaries and for would-be missionaries.

According to Rod and Lynley, who ran the course along with Jonathan and Rodney, of the 20 participants, two were from Harare, one from Bulawayo, one from Masvingo, four from Chegutu, one from Mozambique and the rest were from a church in Mutare.

This church hosted the event and covered all the expenses for the course coordinators and facilitators who were not from Mutare. Challenges in food and power cuts were met during the course. According to Lynley: “The guest lodge where we ran the course and stayed in, was on the same power grid as the hospital so we had no power cuts.”

Rod and Lynley also ran a facilitators training course where most of the Kairos participants also joined. They noted that “Zimbabwe is ripe for raising up missionaries. The church is mature and there are some wonderful Christian brothers and sisters in that nation.”
